CHAIR

Omar Badreddin
University of Texas El Paso
United States

Brief Bio
Omar Badreddin is an Assistant Professor at Northern Arizona University. He works in the area of Model Driven Engineering and Healthcare Analytics. He is the head of the "Model Drive Healthcare Analytics (MD-HA) research lab". The lab focuses on applying cutting edge technologies to solve some of the healthcare challenges, such as patient flow, delivering time critical care, clinical pathway management and high performance high efficiency care. He is actively involved in collaborative projects with a few hospitals in North America. He is an IBM Research Fellow and is the author of "Human-Centric Business Process Management" book.

SCOPE

The aim of MDA-HC is to discuss recent research advancements and applications, and to bring together an interdisciplinary community to develop a research, educational and industrial agenda for the application of software engineering in the healthcare sector. Healthcare environments and systems are becoming increasingly complex. With this complexity comes significant challenges, as well as opportunities. The MDA discipline in Software Engineering has brought many innovations that promises better management of complexities. There is great potential in bringing such advancements to healthcare.

Model Driven Architecture applications in Healthcare. Business Process Management applications in Healthcare. Clinical Pathway Management. Software Systems that provides real time dashboards for clinicians. Software quality, security, safety issues in health care systems and processes. Applications of Modelling techniques in Healthcare. Requirements engineering in Healthcare. Process Engineering applications for clinical pathways. Software Quality in healthcare systems Process definition, elicitation, analysis, simulation, re-engineering in healthcare. Software Architecture for Healthcare systems. User interface challenges in healthcare, including the use of mobile devices. Techniques to managing data privacy and security.
